A Girl and Her Soldier {A Reunion}

I recently applied and was accepted to OpLove.org – an organization where photographers donate their services to those and their families who are serving our country. Dana was my first OpLove call. She said through tears that her soldier is coming home for a short stay and wanted to know if I would be available to photograph their reunion. How could I say no?

Anticipation

It had been 5 1/2 months since Dana had seen her soldier.

“He’ll be wearing his boots.”

We all looked up the stairwell waiting for the small glimpse of his boots.

Firsts

First glimpse, first touch, first embrace, first kiss after so much time apart.

Smiles

No blurb needed. You can just see how happy these two are to see each other after such a long time apart.

I was able to hold back tears (barely) through the reunion but once everyone had hugged and said their hellos I, of course, start tearing up! Thats my cue to go and let the reunited couple have some time together.

Thank you for allowing me a glimpse into such a heartwarming and special part of your lives.

I loved this family. Cynthia found me through Facebook and asked if I was willing to travel for sessions. Me? Of course I am! I am so glad I did… a lovely little family and Gianna was just precious!

I think this is my favorite image from the session. I’ve been wanting to get a shot like this for a while and couldn’t have asked for a better little model!

Just precious! I love this one! I hope its one of moms favorites too!

Gianna just turned one and mom bought her this adorable little lady bug outfit off Etsy.

Such a sweet little face.

And what better way to end a one year birthday photoshoot than with some cake! Gianna was quite serious about her cake eating.
